Patinated Bronze on Fruitwood

Solan is a Canadian artist who currently lives and works in Toronto.

Her sculptures explore seemingly dichotomous allegories to reveal universal truths. Some harken back to childhood and examine themes of innocence and whimsy, while others articulate the duality of solitude and serenity amidst a landscape of uncertainty.

Myth or reality, human or animal, Solan’s forms often blur or shift, belying an underlying tension. She explores the frailties of human behaviorism from apprehension, guilt and fear to betrayal and emancipation; probing the narrative which articulates our struggle for connection and meaning.

Her work can be found in a number of private collections across Canada.
