‘The Hug’ 2021
6′ x 2′ x 2′
3D Printed Plastic and Epoxy

Since the beginning of COVID-19, many people have been separated from their loved ones; by fear, hospitals, borders and more. This sculpture celebrates the warmth of embrace, recognizes our need for physical touch, and the pain caused by long term physical separation. The fabrication involved sculpting a 3D model in virtual reality, 3D printing many pieces and assembly / lamination with epoxy and a 2 part automotive clear coat for UV protection.
