The Dance of Oneness (Sonzaikan)
28.5″ x 16″
Resin, Winterstone

As a child I enjoyed spending time in puzzled contemplation and awe of the world around me, looking under the hood trying to understand how it all related and fit together. Today I’m exploring the same questions through sculpture, lifting rocks to bring to light what lives in the darkness. I’m trying to describe the connections,  interconnections and patterns I see above and below, within and without, animate and inanimate. I’m imagining with my hybrids and anthropomorphic beings a oneness of all that we see, an ecstatic interplay and dance of absence and presence, stillness and motion, chaos and order, creation and destruction. I’m dreaming of what it might be like to unravel the mystery.
